Adil Guillen, Copy / Spanish Editor
Yoo! My name is Adil and my pronouns are he/they. This is my third semester at Solano after transferring from South Florida where I was raised most of my life. I was born in my country of Honduras and immigrated to the States at a young age.
Writing is one of my biggest passions, it can be both productive and therapeutic to put feelings into words. One of my earliest memories was winning a poetry contest in 5th grade and having my work featured on the school news. From that point on, I fell in love with articulating thoughts and emotions into carefully crafted words to evoke a reaction from an audience.
Over the past few years, I’ve been really inspired by the journalists on the ground covering the genocide on Gaza. People like Bisan, Anas, Plestia and countless others have made a huge impact in my life and helped me realize just how much many voices deserve to be amplified.
Apart from writing, I’m addicted to Spotify and listen to music every chance I get. Discovering up and coming artists, deepdiving into a group’s discography, finding new sounds, copping more vinyl, all mean a lot to me. I’m also a huge Barcelona fan, I fell in love with the team during the Ronaldinho era and been following them ever since.
I’m grateful that the Journalism program has been revived to help students pursue their writing. I’m excited to join the Solano Pulse team and hope I can contribute to the great work they’ve been doing.
